Talent Management and Strategies
Talent Management and Strategies
Introduction of Talent Management
Talent
management is described as the carefully managed, strategic process of bringing
in the right people and assisting them in reaching their full potential while
keeping corporate goals in mind
Talent Management Process
While the
process of talent management is often cyclical rather than a generic linear
progression of events, it can be thought of as beginning with recognizing the
need for talent, progressing to filling that gap, and finally growing and
optimizing the skills, traits, and expertise of new and old employees.

·
Planning - The first phase in the talent management process,
like any other process with a defined result, is planning. It entails
determining where the gaps are – the human capital requirement, generating job
descriptions for key roles to facilitate sourcing and selection, and developing
a workforce plan for recruitment initiatives.
·
Attracting -
The natural next step, based on the plan, is to determine whether
the talent requirements should be filled from within the organization or from
outside sources. In either case, the process would necessitate attracting a
steady stream of applications. The usual external sources include job portals,
social network, and referrals. The talent pools that need to be tapped into
must be identified in advance to keep the process as smooth and efficient as
possible.
·
Selecting - This
involves using a string of tests and checks to find the right match for the job
– the ideal person-organization fit. Written tests, interviews, group
discussions and psychometric testing along with an in-depth analysis of all
available information on the candidate on public access platforms help in
gauging an all-rounded picture of the person.
·
Developing -
Today, many businesses operate on the principle of hiring for attitude and
training for skills. This makes sense since, while you may want a proclivity
towards particular skill sets, you are hiring the person, not the CV. Employee
engagement and loyalty are improved through developing employees to help them
grow with the organization and preparing them for the expertise needed to
contribute to business success.
What is the Talent
Management Strategy?
A talent management plan
is a flexible framework for fostering a company's human assets through new
recruitment and performance management activities
